Norwegian Skater Stian Sannerud to support Team Tibet
New York, 5/26/07 - Today Amnesty International Norway launched its new series of products such as skateboards and t-shirts. With these products Amnesty International Norway wants to reach out to young people, not typically associated with human rights work. The Norwegian skater Stian Sannerud participated in the launch and had chosen to focus on Tibet because of the consistent breach of human rights inTibet. He also expressed interest in joining Team Tibet.
Tibetans and supporters launch the Tibet Olympics Campaign "Bring Tibet to the 2008 Games"
Bruxelles, 5/14/07 - A huge Banner saying "Bring Tibet to the 2008 Games ? Support Team Tibet.org" was unfurled by members of Tibet groups from the International Tibet Support Network in Bruxelles today. The network announced the formation of a Tibetan Team for the 2008 Olympics and called for the support of the world to give Tibet a strong presence in Beijing.
Tibetans in India celebrate launch of Tibet Olympics Campaign
Dharamsala, 5/13/07 - In support for the launch of Team Tibet in Brussels, more than 14 teams participated in tug-of-war game to entertain as well as to show solidarity for the entire members who worked so hard over the years on the Olympics campaign work that has pulled in this wonderful campaign called "Bring Tibet to the 2008 Games". The event in Dharamsala was organised by all the Tibetan NGOs iincluding Tibetan National Sports Association. The passionate and enthusiam shown by all the concerned leading leaders of Tibetan community as well as participation in the fun game by the masses clearly indicate how important this campaign is for the Tibetans.
First members for Team Tibet found!
Dharamsala, 10/5/07 - Urgen Chophel, Thubten Tsering and Jamphel Lhundup are the initial members of Team Tibet. Urgen Choeple one of the three young Tibetans from Dharamsala explained his motivation: "I want to proof Tibet as independent nation through sports. I want to show my strength and capability in sports to the world", . Other Tibetan athletes will join Team Tibet in the coming weeks. It is intended to apply to the International Olympic Committee for permission to allow the team to compete in Beijing in 2008.
